Jinan

Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, has been known for centuries as the 'city of springs'. Within the city's present boundaries there are more than 100 springs. The water bubbles up from the ground - sometimes sparingly - and maintains a constant temperature of 18ˇăC.Of the 72 famous springs here, the Baotu, Pearl, Black Tiger and Five-Dragon Pool springs are the best known. The water from all the springs gathers in the north of Jinan City proper, forming. Daming Lake, known for its dazzling ripples. To the south of Jinan stands the "Holy land of Buddhism"--the Thousand-Buddha Hill. The 72 famous springs embraced by the lake and surrounding mountains make Jinan a tourist attraction with unique charms.

   Jinan is the province's political, economic and cultural center ,with a total area of 8,227 sq. km and a population of 5.49 million, including 2.54 million urban people.

     Located in the western part of the center of Shandong Province, Jinan is at the juncture of the Beijing-Shanghai and Qingdao-Jinan railways.

How to get here :
There are flights from Peking to Jinan, and the city is also on the main Peking-Shanghai railway line, about 5 hours' journey from Peking.
